Serenity Base Fest is a 3-day sacred art, mindful movement, and music festival in Sandwich, IL. Serenity is a Mid-West model for a culture that understands the depth of our connectivity to each other, to the planet, and to our collective consciousness.
We respectfully present music from diverse global, national, and local traditions. We acknowledge conscious dance music as fitting into the broader context of sacred and healing music. Beyond a curated mix of world class music, we offer interactive art installations, live painting, local organic cuisine options, mindful and eco-friendly vendors, and educational programming—including workshops on yoga, healing, relationships, social and environmental justice, health and wellness, and the music and wisdom of ancient and modern cultures. Our mission is to dissolve the societal boundaries that isolate us through music, dance, and play. In the pursuit of our goals, we deepen our own connection to, and respect for, the earth and that we educate and inspire participants to do the same.
“The best way to capture moments is to pay attention. This is how we cultivate mindfulness. Mindfulness means being awake. It means knowing what you are doing.”
The name Serenity Base is an important aspect of our vision with this festival. SBF’s creator Blake, had an uncle who became the main inspiration for curating such an inspirational event. Michael Kandel, Tranquility Bass, began creating experimental electronic fusion music in the late 80s. When Blake was a child, Michael traveled the world and sent postcards from places he would visit: telling tales of the people he met and the music he played for them. Blake has had the opportunity to watch him sing live a handful of times, and will always have his albums to remember him by. Sadly, he passed away in May 2015. In memory of, and in tribute to him, the festival is named: Serenity Base.
Serenity Base Fest is all about facilitating positive vibes and energy throughout every attendee. We strive to create an atmosphere where clean eating, healthy living, sustainable mindset, energy conscious, creative and knowledgeable veterans of the community can thrive. Life in general is about creating moments and being a moment maker for those around you. We believe every person has a duty to be the best version of themselves and share their unique gifts to the people around them.
